Spatial Scanning Explained

Spatial Scanning Explained

What exactly is Spatial Scanning Services? That’s a great question. And we’ve done our best to answer it. In this short nine minute video, Rob Miller discusses the in’s and out’s of BuildingPoint Spatial Scanning Services. What you can expect from our time on-site, what you can expect from the data deliverables, generally speaking, the ins and outs of the entire process.

With BPSS, we do the work, you use the data. It really is that simple. Click here to view the video.

Spatial Scanning Services-We’ll Crunch The Data For You

Spatial Scanning Services – We’ll Crunch The Data For You

post-processing-imageToday’s scanning methods can capture large amounts of data, in a relatively short amount of time. For example, with BuildingPoint Spatial Scanning Services, it’s not uncommon for us to capture 2 trillion points of data in a single day. And while this data is immensely powerful, it’s also, well… a lot of data. With post-processing services, BuildingPoint will optimize, sub-sample, segment, file index, and work through the large datasets completely on your behalf, so you’re only left with the data and the measurements that you actually need.

Another powerful aspect of this post-processing workflow is the concept of “Scan Now, Analyze Later”. Even though you might only be interested in duct work, or structural components today, with Spatial Scanning Services, BuildingPoint is capturing everything within your project, which means that you have the data at your disposal to analyze later, when and if conditions or circumstances change. To learn more about BuildingPoint’s Post-Processing offerings and capabilities, check out our white paper here.

Episode 3 – Custom Reporting

Foundations Episode #3 – Custom Reporting

Having great data is fantastic. But only if you can act upon that data. Insightful and customized reporting is a key component to making the most of your data-driven decision making. In this week’s podcast, the Foundations team is joined by Steve Montgomery of BuildingPoint Northeast. Steve has spent over 20 years in project controls arena, and has successfully shepherded hundreds of clients through a successful project controls software implementation, leveraging custom reports as a huge component of the success strategy. Steve highlights both some of the benefits of customized reporting, as well as some basic criteria to make sure that you’re leveraging your data to it’s fullest potential.

Introducing Trimble ProjectSight

Introducing Trimble ProjectSight

Staying on the same page. On the modern project, it’s imperative. But sadly, it’s easier said than done. With data coming from a variety of sources, and residing in a number of different silos and locations, keeping tabs on project drawings, RFI’s, and conversations is an exercise in frustration and futility. And that’s why Trimble created ProjectSight. More than just a project management solution, ProjectSight is the first and only project collaboration platform that effectively bridges the gap between 2D drawings, 3D plans, and all of the daily communication that happens on a construction site. Engineered for efficiency and ease-of-use, ProjectSight is optimized for both mobile and traditional web users, allowing field and office collaborators to share a similar and familiar user experience and workflow.

Best of all, getting started with Trimble ProjectSight couldn’t be easier. Head over to projectsight.trimble.com to begin collaborating on your project for free.

Episode 2 – Implementation Red Flags

Foundations Episode #2 – Implementation Red Flags

In this week’s episode Foundations discusses the topic of implementation red flags. When implementing new technology or processes, it goes without saying that a substantial amount of due diligence and research is required to arrive at the correct decision. But what happens after the decision has been made? In truth, that’s when things can go really bad, really fast. This week, the Foundations team is joined by Kriszta Dolanyi of Trimble, who has been managing and navigating intricate implementations for the past 10 years. Kriszta highlights some key concepts of a successful implementation, as well as some “red flags” that will help identify potential issues before they completely derail the integration.

Episode 1 – Introduction

Introducing Foundations – An On-Going DBO Conversation

Today, we’re thrilled to announce and release the first episode of Foundations, a podcast focused solely on emerging trends and ideas within the Design-Build-Operate marketspace. This bi-weekly show will cover any variety of topics, and is intended to be a conversation, rather than a sales pitch or infomercial for any particular product or service. As a growing worldwide network of construction technology experts, BuildingPoint has a unique ability to cover many of these emerging concepts with a perspective and angle that is simply unavailable anywhere else in the industry.

Our plan is to release 18 episodes a year, on a roughly bi-weekly basis. In each show, we’ll cover a single topic, and we’ll be joined by a variety of industry experts, thought leaders, and real-world users, to help bring additional viewpoints to the conversation. Subscribing to the podcasts couldn’t be easier. We’ll be posting each episode to all of the major podcast outlets including iTunes, SoundCloud, and Google Play.

In our first episode, we’re simply setting the table for Foundations, talking about what it is, and what is not, and really just explaining what you can expect in the coming months.

As the leader in Design-Build-Operate solutions, BuildingPoint is thrilled to serve contractors, designers, and owners within this rapidly changing segment. With Foundations, we encourage you to join in the conversation, as we continue to push the industry forward together. Visit buildingpointflorida.con/foundations and subscribe today!

Welcome To The BuildBlog

Welcome To The BuildBlog

Over the past two years, BuildingPoint has been able to forge some fantastic relationships with contractors, designers, and owners throughout the Sunshine State. It’s been a truly exciting and unqiue experience to have the opportunity to partner with our clients, and help to bring powerful technology solutions into their projects and processes. At every turn, it has become apparent that this industry in general, and Florida in particular, is changing and evolving at a truly astounding rate. And with that constant change, suffice it say, there’s a lot to talk about.

That’s why today, BuildingPoint is kicking off this blog. In the coming months, it is our goal that this web address becomes a fantastic source of information, discussion, and even dare to say, inspiration as we continue to participate in the change that is enveloping the AEC marketplace.

You can expect several things from the BPFL Blog. Timely ideas & announcements, a number of different BuildingPoint contributors, and a regular posting tempo are the bare minimum. Beyond that, this blog is envisioned to be something more than just a social media collection of pics and product announcements. Social media is fantastic for quick links, event announcements, and so forth. But this medium will allow us to expand upon a number of different topics and concepts. An RSS feed is also available here to add to your favorite news reader app.

And of course, if you have any questions, or would like more information contact your BuildingPoint Representative, reach out to us on social media, or just give us a call at (813)280-0655.
